May 7th marks the 24th annual lake-wide cleanup effort. Volunteers from all areas of Smith Mountain Lake get involved in sprucing up both the water and shoreline for the coming summer season. Volunteers are encouraged to participate and can register individually, as a neighborhood or other organization.

Dear 'Take Pride in Smith Mountain Lake" Participant:
The Smith Mountain Lake Association (SMLA), Tri-County Lake Administrative Commission (TLAC) , and the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce (SMLRCC) are pleased to announce the 24th annual "Take Pride in Smith Mountain Lake" Clean-Up. This cooperative Clean-Up event is held to provide an opportunity for civic organizations, church groups, clubs or neighborhoods in our community to join together and help remove debris from Smith Mountain Lake making it a cleaner, safer place.
This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, May 7,2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Volunteers throughout the community are encouraged to participate. Eleven locations have generously provided drop-off sites for volunteers to leave debris. Lunch will be available at most drop-off locations or at a near-by resident's dock. Please refer to the information sheet for specific locations.
Please complete the attached registration form and return it by Friday, April 22nd

Each volunteer will receive a package including a commemorative tote bag (while supplies last), gloves, trash bags, and a safety and information sheet. Registered volunteers may pick up their packages at the Smith Mountain Lake Association office from Monday, May 2nd through Friday, May 6th from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The SMLA office is located in the lower level of The Plaza, Suite 2100, (540) 719-0690.
